BEES deliver a range of climate change initiatives supporting the local community to improve our environment through social action initiatives to community events.
Bradford BEES hold events and educations sessions in Bowling Community orchard to promote natural food production, biodiversity, the importance of pollinators and the variety of native fruit trees and bushes. Sessions are attended by nurseries, primary schools, people interested in growing their own, conservation volunteers and wellbeing groups. The biggest day of the year in the organic orchard is Apple Day - a fun, inclusive community event for all ages that celebrates all things related to apples. There are stalls, organic apple pressing, creative crafts and children's activities to enjoy.
BEES work with partners where possible to plant trees in Bradford District and beyond. This may be working with the National Trust to reforest areas or with Trees for Cities to allow schoolchildren to plant saplings and appreciate the importance of trees and shrubs in creating shelter and nature habitats.
As well as regular litter picking and fly tipping removal at BEES managed sites, each year we collect, clean and sort hundreds of sapling guards to be recycled at a site in Skipton.
BEES attend several like minded community events during the year, relating to environmental and conservation issues as well as fruit production, tree planting and organic apple pressing. We will provide support and knowledge regarding conservation issues and improving biodiversity and wildlife habitats in Bradford District.
