Thanks to everyone who came along to our 25th Apple Day celebration on the 12th October in Bowling Community Orchard and helped to make it such a memorable and successful event.
Huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers who gave up their time to support the event or made food for us to sell. People helped to set up the day, man stalls, sell goods, run activities and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Wrapture with their famous falapples, cake, chutney and sauce makers, fresh apple pressers, coffee and tea makers. We had Lou Sumray with The Big Draw, biscuit decorations, sun prints, volunteers at the campaign stall to save the orchard, our video and interview volunteer, apple sellers, Fruit Works tree sellers and Friends of Bowling Park.
There were fantastic nature based activities from Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Calm In the Wild and The Coppice Collective – all much loved by the children. We thank Mimi le Bonq for entertaining everyone with their fabulous music.
Lastly, we thank the weather for giving us a glorious, sunny afternoon. It was a fantastic community event.
Here is a small sample of the feedback from Apple Day; “Wholesome, peaceful, creativity, community.” “How lovely to see different age groups coming together for such fantastic and fabulous event. Great people, food produce and brilliant atmosphere.” “Apple Day is such an inclusive day. Sunshine and lots of fun in Bradford – all ages and cultures.” “Learning about different apples.” “I like apple day because I can pick them and make something.”
Already looking forward to next year.
