Youth Worker (Children and Families)

Y:Zone - New Project Starting Autumn 2017

16 hours per week FTE £17,842 (pro rata) Fixed term for 3 years

Y:Zone is a new 3 year project funded through BBC Children in Need to support young people aged 6-13 from disadvantaged backgrounds who are going through a family change such as a parental separation or bereavement and may suffer further disadvantage as a result.  The project will deliver issue based group work incorporating play/fun activities delivered in a variety of settings accessible to children and young people. In addition the project will fund a weekly youth club session at YMCA Culture Fusion and holiday activities.

Job purpose:

 To develop, plan and deliver the Y:Zone programme and activities to vulnerable young people aged 6-13 to achieve the following outcomes:

Children and Young People who are going through a family separation will have improved coping strategies and resilience

  • Children and young people will have a reduction in anger and aggression related outbursts as they are better able to deal with their feeling and emotions
  • Children and young people will have improved communication and be better able to talk about the issues that are affecting them

A working week of 16 hours, this will involve delivery afterschool and early evenings up to three times per week.
